For normal audio playback in applications many different libraries are needed. One of them is bass.dll that is needed for GTA San Andreas, Aimp and many other popular programs. When you start the game you can meet such a nasty error like “missing bass.dll”. It says that this library has been removed from your computer. This could happen when installing a hacked game or program. Pirate games break dll. They change their code, and remove some important files or change it so that programs no longer can use them. Sometimes the app just can’t access bass.dll. So, we need to add it to trusted files in antivirus to make it all work. If the library was moved to quarantine by your antivirus software then it must be returned from there and put in the exceptions.
When a file is deleted or corrupted, you can restore it in some steps:
- Reinstall the problem app
- Download file bass.dll
When you install games or programs that use bass.dll it must be loaded to your computer. If the library was recorded incorrectly, the reinstallation will surely fix the error. But this applies only to official applications, pirated software are pointless to reinstall, as is likely, they are damaged bass.dll. Reinstallation did not help? Try to install the latest version of DirectX. File bass.dll actively interacts with DirectSound in this package, so such this maneuver may solve the issue.
If the error persists, you have to download bass.dll and place it in one of the Windows folders. This folder is C:\Windows\System32 in 32 bit Windows or directory C:\Windows\SysWOW64 for 64-bit operating system. Needed library for Windows 7/8/10 you can freely download here. After placing it in system folder, register bass.dll and the error will disappear.
