Games released in 2015 and later can use the 3D graphics processing features available through the DirectX 12 software package and the d3d12 library in particular.dll. If there is a problem with this file, or if the system cannot find it, an error occurs when you try to start the game. Usually the application closes after that.
Among the games that require this library on your computer: Halo 5, Civilization VI, Total War: Warhammer and many others. If you try to start the game but see a message that d3d12 is missing.dll or that it is not accessible – you need to solve this problem. Knowing what to do, you will save a lot of time and will be able to play again without difficulty.
There are two ways to fix the situation:
- Simple yet time consuming-download the DirectX 12 installer
- The way to manually solve the situation faster – download dll separately.
The installer will automatically check all libraries needed for DirectX to work properly, download the missing libraries, and fix the damaged libraries. If you don’t want to waste time waiting, you can download d3d12.dll free for Windows 7/8/10 32×64 bit, but in this case it will need to be manually copied to the system directory.
The address of this directory may vary depending on which OS is installed on your computer. Make sure that the downloaded DLL is placed in the directory “Windows”, which is needed. If you continue to have problems with other files that are related to DirectX 12, reinstall the entire package.
